College of Applied Science Kodungallur was established on 07-Sep-2010 by Govt. of Kerala and is managed by IHRD (Institute of Human Resources Development). The college is affiliated to Calicut University. The formal inauguration of the college was done by the, then honorable minister for Revenue, Sri. Rajendran.    

   
The institute began functioning at ‘Govt. Fisheries School Kara’, in Edavilangu Panchayat of Kodungallur.  Though the sanction obtained was for conducting three courses viz., B.Com with Computer Applications, BSc Computer Science and B.Sc Electronics, only B.Com course commenced owing to the space limitations at the School in ‘Kara’. Eventually, in the year of 2011, the college was shifted to ‘Edavilangu High School’, still in ‘Edavilangu Panchyat’, where the facilities were better and started off BSc Computer Science course in addition to B.Com with Computer Application. The “Manapattu Trust” under the guidance of Sri Amir Ahmed, donated 50 cents of land in the year of 2013.

Now the college is functioning in its own building at Eriyad which is inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture Sri.Adv.V.S.Sunilkumar on 11.02.2019. In the academic year 2020-21 onwards, a new UG course BA English Language and Literature started. In the academic year 2021-22 onwards , new PG courses started.
